This letter is never used in the beginning of a word; the capital form is reserved for use in wholly-capitalized words.

Ɛala ɛaks ḥarf el Y elli fe-l Engelizi, el Y hena benestaɛmelha bass ka ḥarf sabet, mec motaḥarrek. Yaɛni zayy el Y el Engelizi elli fe kelmet yes, bass mec zayy Y fe very.
Unlike its English counterpart, the Y letter here is a consonant Y only, not to be used as a vowel, i.e. as in yes, but not as in very.
